When you stop to think about it, our modern food industrial complex is a wonderful thing in many ways. Any time of the year, in any city, you have your choice of fresh food picked just days before. But obviously there’s a downside to all of this.
Getting fresh food — especially fruits and vegetables — from one place to the next without them going bad means that they need to be picked quickly. The trade-off here is that a few bugs or lizards might hitch a ride inside your delicious bag of lettuce.
Or as this unfortunate woman learned, inside your bag of kale.
At first glance, you don’t even notice it…
…but lo and behold, there’s a dead lizard.
And it’s also missing its head.
Poor little critter…
I feel bad for the lizard, but it’s still pretty gross. That’s the last thing I want to see when I’m trying to eat more salad. Honestly, it just makes me want to go back to my all-pizza diet…
